Architecture

The SDA Platform is built on a cloud-native, distributed architecture designed to deliver secure connectivity, high availability, and scalable industrial automation operations. This section introduces the fundamental architectural concepts that power SDA—how services run in the cloud, how the SDA Gateway connects on-premise industrial assets, and how workloads such as pipelines, IDEaaS, and device operations are orchestrated securely across IT and OT environments.

This section includes the following pages:

  • Architecture Overview – A visual and conceptual description of SDA’s end-to-end architecture, including cloud services, SDA Gateways, connectivity patterns, and the data/control flows between them.

  • High Availability & Scalability – Details on how SDA uses cloud elasticity, microservices, redundancy, and automated failover to support enterprise-grade performance at any scale.

  • SDA Connectivity Services – An in-depth explanation of SDA’s secure connectivity layer, including tunneling technologies, VPN orchestration, connection lifecycle management, and security boundaries between IT and OT domains.

Together, these pages provide a comprehensive understanding of how SDA is structured—both in the cloud and on-premise—to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable industrial DevOps.
