Secure Remote Access (SRA)

This section introduces the preview of the Secure Remote Access (SRA) feature, which lets users connect their workstation to devices while secured by the access control service.

Connectivity Gateways enable secure and controlled network access to manufacturing assets via the Cloud. Users can utilize the SDA Glue connectivity client from their Workstations, which allows them to request access to devices linked through configured Gateways, ensuring seamless integration and security. The client is the same as the one for Gateways, and the requirements are specified in the SDA Gateway Requirements.

The image above illustrates the components involved in the connection from the Workstation to PLCs, which is quite similar to the architecture presented in SDA Conectivity services Architecture Overview. The user utilizes the SDA Console to establish a connection to one or more PLCs, which is approved by the set of roles and permissions he is authenticated with.

The installation process follows the same steps as in SDA Gateway Installation & Setup, but Workstations have to first be defined by the user in the Workstations section on the left-side bar.

For each Workstation, the user has the ability to create connections to one or more devices, as defined by the administrator.
